Airphil Express is further boosting its presence this year after its market share more than tripled following its re-launch in March last year.
In a statement, the budget airline said its market share jumped to 17 percent in the fourth quarter from only 5.2 percent in the first quarter last year.
“We’re satisfied with how the market has embraced our brand considering that we are effectively less that a year old. We believe we can do more and cement our status in the industry,” said Airphil SVP for marketing and sales Alfredo Herrera.
Herrera said that travelers reacted positively to the perks offered by Airphil Express such as free baggage check-in, friendly flight schedules, and their new fleet of A320s.
“We’ve positioned ourselves as a budget airline and people were surprised about the perks and freebies they don’t usually get from other budget airlines,” he added.
Airphil Express recently invested in a new fleet, consisting of the Airbus A320 series, to meet the growing demand from domestic and even international travelers. With the A320’s optimized legroom and elbowroom, passengers have access to stowage spaces, and world-class services from pilots and cabin crew.
Herrera added that most of their fliers were drawn by word of mouth and the great promotional deals being offered.
Airphil Express flies daily to key cities throughout the country. It also offers added-value travel services such as 15-kilo free baggage allowance, web check-in and seat selector.
